Our principles
Six commitments that shape what we build.
These are not aspirations bolted on at the end. They constrain how the Proofence Engine reasons about a claim, an action, or a policy.
Explainability by default
A decision that cannot be explained cannot be trusted. Every verdict Proofence produces is meant to be inspectable—showing what was considered and why an outcome was reached, rather than asking anyone to take the result on faith.
Human oversight
Automation should know its limits. Low-confidence and high-stakes cases are routed to people with the context they need, and the boundary between automated and human judgment is deliberate and reviewable.
Evidence & accountability
Claims should trace back to what supports them. We ground outputs in identifiable evidence and preserve provenance, so a decision can be audited later and understood on its merits.
Privacy & data minimization
We work to verify decisions without collecting more than a decision requires. Data minimization is a design constraint, not an afterthought, and we favor architectures that keep sensitive information close to where it belongs.
Calibrated confidence
A confidence signal is only useful if it is honest. We calibrate trust scores so a high value reflects genuine reliability, and we communicate uncertainty plainly instead of hiding it behind a confident-looking number.
Contestability
People affected by an AI decision should be able to question it. Because our verdicts are grounded and inspectable, they can be challenged and revisited rather than treated as final and opaque.
